Koshi Chime, a favourite sound healing instrument. They leave everyone relaxed and in wonder during Yoga Savasana and Sound Healing Baths. These majestic chimes are handmade in France at the foot of the Pyrenean mountains. The Koshi Aria chime gives voice to the Air element with a light, clear and airy sound. It embodies openness, and may evoke space and movement, bringing a broader and more delicate character to the 4 Elements collection. Its notes unfold with subtlety, always carried by Koshi’s distinctive harmonic balance. The 4 Elements collection is available in four melodies, based on nature's elements
Terra (earth)
Aqua (water)
Aria (air)
Ignis (fire)
Each has its own magic timbre and can be played harmoniously with all the others. Move the chime gently holding it by its cord: the crystalline relaxing sound may leave you in quiet wonder. Suspended, it will play with the wind and carry you away in an unexpected melody. Appreciated by musicians, they are often used in musical compositions. Many sound therapists, yoga teachers and healing facilitators around the world use them.
The Aria melody in detail NOTES AND HARMONICS
Comprising of the notes A C E A B C E B the Aria melody corresponds to A minor. Its eight rods are individually tuned by hand, with reference to 432 Hz, until they find their right place within the harmonic ensemble. Thanks to a harmonic correction specific to Koshi, the lower and higher notes naturally respond to one another and create a clear, light and coherent melody. This sonic architecture gives Aria its openness, its clarity and this impression of living chords. The four tunings of the 4 Elements collection were designed to be played alone or in dialogue with one another within the same collection. Terra, Aqua, Aria and Ignis can therefore respond freely to one another: their chords remain coherent, whatever combination is chosen. SOUND CHARACTER Aria stands out with a clear, light and airy sound, with melodies that may evoke breath and openness. Its notes unfold with subtlety, in a fluid and free- flowing movement. Aria offers a bright and delicate listening experience, carried by the harmonic richness and long resonance characteristic of Koshi chimes.
Handcrafted production and specifications HAND-TUNED IN THE PYRENEES Each Koshi Aria chime is hand-crafted at the foot of the French Pyrenees. The craftsperson solders eight steel rods with silver onto a metal base, then tunes them one by one, with meticulous attention to their pitch, accuracy and the balance of the whole. The bamboo resonance chamber amplifies the vibrations and gives the Koshi chime its long, clear and warm resonance.

How to play the Koshi Aria chime
BASIC MOVEMENTS Hold the Koshi Aria chime by its cord and let it hang freely. Turn it gently with a slight movement of the wrist: the central clapper sets the rods into vibration and brings forth a cascade of clear and free-flowing notes. The broader the movement, the more the rods are set in motion. Or swing it gently in a pendulum motion to play individual notes. The Koshi chime can also simply be suspended, allowing the wind to play it through melodies that are always unexpected. DURING MEDITATION
The melody of the Koshi Aria chime can, for example, introduce and conclude a meditation session. IN SOUND THERAPY AND SOUND YOGA
In sound practices, the Koshi Aria chime naturally finds its place alongside singing bowls, gongs or other harmonic instruments. Its lightness allows practitioners to move it easily through the space, to let the sound circulate, mark a change of rhythm or guide listening toward silence.
Caring for the Koshi Chime Indoors, the Koshi chime requires no particular maintenance. To preserve its resonance and the natural beauty of its materials, it is enough to keep it in a dry space, protected from prolonged humidity.
Outdoors, it should always be placed under shelter, protected from rain and the weather. Like any wooden instrument exposed to the environment, it can be given suitable protection, such as a clear varnish for exterior woodwork, to be renewed regularly. Slight marks may appear on the metal parts over time, without affecting the sound quality of the instrument.
